Family Room/ Dining Room

When we bought the house, we hated this room.  It had 1970's paneling, horrible carpet, an inconvenient closet and cheap-looking built ends.  We gutted the room, replaced the paneling with sheet rock, painted the ceiling white, removed unused heating elements,  put in overhead lighting and a modern fan, built bookshelves, added window framing to match the kitchen, and installed new lament flooring.  We also updated the gas fireplace by painting it white and adding beautiful walnut wood to the ledges. This room has become our favorite place to hang out.

Note:  The room is an addition to the house.  I believe it was added in the seventies.  In the winter, the gas stove is sufficient to heat the entire room.  The room is attached to the kitchen and has a door that leads to the backyard.

The storage cabinets and the bookshelves were repainted this summer (2013).
I added Annie Sloan furniture wax to the piece.
